LINE 16

Line 16 will eventually be 49.8 km long with 29 stations, including 12 interchange ones, and run from Beianhe to Wanping Town.

The first phase section in the north, 19.6 km in length from BeiAnHe station to XiYuan, opened on December 31, 2016 (an infill station, Nongdananlu was opened on December 30, 2017).  It extended to Ganjia Kou on 31 December 2020, and extended to Yuyuantan Park East Gate on 31 December 2021. The extension to Yushuzhuang will open at the end of 2022.

Eventually it will be 49.8 km with 30 stations when fully completed.

In the first phase stations, only Xiyuan featured a mural – it replaced an earlier one that had to be removed from the Line 4 section when new passageways to Line 16 were constructed. But all the stations so far feature exclusive geometrical designs in the ceilings. Many of Line 16’s stations also feature special lighting above the platforms.

Line 16 is the fourth line in the capital (after lines 4, Daxing and 15) to be operated by Beijing MTR Corporation.

A special decoration was used in one train during the opening week of the line in 2016
