LINE 9 – Military Museum (军事博物馆)

Befitting the theme of the Military Museum, there are extracts from a famous quote from Sun Tzu’s ‘The Art of War’: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The Art of War was an ancient Chinese military treatise dating from the 5th century BC. It is composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare and is commonly thought of as a definitive work on military strategy and tactics.
