Jingtai station was formerly known as Anlelin. It is located close by the Beijing Enamel Factory which is famous for producing cloisonné. In order to promote the world's intangible culture of cloisonné, a 20-metre-long, 3-metre-high mural "Jingtai Jinghua" was designed in the station, showing classic craftsmanship for the production of cloisonné enamel during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty. The subway station was renamed "Jingtai" as a result.
It is believed to be the largest hand-painted work of coloured enamel.
The surface was fired with enamelled pressed steel and then painted.
