Dengshikou – which translates as Entrance to the Lantern Market (there used to be such a market here in days gone by) – continues to sport wall decorations dating back to the time of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Whether this is planned, or – as seems more likely – they have just been forgotten, is unclear; but it’s a sweet reminder of a major influence on the push forward of the entire Beijing subway network.
