LINE 7 Zhushikou (珠市口)

Zhushikou, meaning ‘Pearl Market entrance’, used to be a Ming dynasty pig market. When it closed during the Qing dynasty, the name changed, but the pronunciation didn’t, as pigs and pearls are homonyms! The pig market was replaced with a number of theatres.

The mural "Prosperous Scenery" in the entry hall of Line 7 divides the picture up using abstract decorative lines, showing off the prosperity of the area.

The "Old City Story" in the transfer corridor of the southern section of Line 7 to Line 8 provides a glimpse of the southern alleys and courtyards.
