Apparently while researching possible names for this station, two were seriously considered: "Rocket Academy Station" and "Liuyingmen Station". As the area is considered to be the birthplace of China's aerospace industry, the former was chosen.
However, the Rocket Academy is still a national defense restricted zone, and a big sign near exit A says: No entry without permission. Most of the residents of this area are employees and family members of Rocket Academy.
In the main entrance hall there are 1:10 rocket models of "Long March 5" and "Long March 8", and there is a rendering, too, of a rocket launch pad .
