Though the Line 7 station was opened on December 28, 2014, it wasn't until four years later that the Line 8 station was opened.
Zhushikou Station was named after a pig market here in the Ming Dynasty. At that time, the emperor had to pass through here every time he made a tour or went to the Temple of Heaven or the Temple of Xiannong to make sacrifices. The pig farm stank so much that emperor Chongzhen passed down a decree to move the pig market to another site at Dongsi.
Anyway, the mural here is called "The Golden Years" and reminds one of the hutongs in the south of the city and the prosperity of the old city.
There are a number of doors, and the gold outlines are meant to symbolise wealth and prosperity.
