Tuanjiehu Park is 1.7 kms away from Tuanjiehu Station. In 1958 the People’s Government of Chaoyang District organised the public to dig a loop from a kiln pit and fill it with water.
The resulting ring lake was named Tuanjie – the lake of union or solidarity – as a tribute to their concerted efforts; and on September 26th 1986 the park was officially opened.
Like Hujialou station, the two near-identical murals can be found along the two passageways connecting the ticket offices. Five-colour blocks of steel and glass form abstract patterns, which are supposed to reflect the ambient lights of eastern Beijing.
