These painted steel sculptures by Zhang Guanyu are named ‘Big Uproar in Heaven’ and ‘Trouble at Sea’ and two are based on internet emoticons.
The artist is quoted as saying that he wanted office workers in Beijing’s Central Business District to smile every time they went home.
Judging by the total disregard that practically every passenger gives them, I think the smile will reflect the fact they don’t have to see these awful eyesores for yet another day.
Hujialou definitely wins the wooden spoon award for its dreadful artwork, in my view!
